Easter Long Weekend Service Level Adjustments
Halifax Water offices will be closed to the public during the Easter long weekend beginning Friday, March 29 – Monday, April 1, 2024.
Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
We want to assure our customers that we remain committed to serving them, and we will be operating with a smaller group of core critical staff.
Halifax Water will continue to respond to and address any urgent water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure matters. Our Customer Care Centre Emergency Line remains open 24/7 at 902-420-9287.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
Parkwood Terrace – Water Main Repair
Halifax Water crews are on-site undertaking an emergency water main repair near 1981 Parkwood Terrace, Halifax. Water service will be temporarily shut down in this area. No estimate of service restoration time.
Parkwood Terrace will be open to local traffic only. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows. Sidewalks remain open.
Customers in the area may experience discoloured water during/following this repair. It is recommended that those customers run the COLD water at one faucet until the water runs clear. To learn more about discoloured water and to report it, please visit www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water.
Traffic Advisory – St Margarets Bay Road
Halifax Water crews will be performing stormwater system maintenance on the following areas:
- Until approximately March 27, there will be periods of stop-and-go traffic on St Margarets Bay Road between Highway 103 and Hubleys Road, Halifax.
- Until approximately April 5, there will be periods of stop-and-go traffic on St Margarets Bay Road between the Ingramport Roundabout and 6001 St Margarets Bay Road, Head of St Margarets Bay.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

Traffic Advisory – King Fisher Way
Starting Monday, February 12, Dexter Construction, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be performing wastewater infrastructure upgrades near King Fisher Way, Lower Sackville. This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area. This work will continue until April 16.
King Fisher Way near the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue will have brief periods of traffic disruption throughout the duration of the project. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows.
Motorists are reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
