Attention motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, Halifax Water will be undertaking wastewater (sewer) system maintenance tomorrow (Wednesday, February 19th) in the area of Cornwallis Street and Cunard Street.
This work will require lane drops and rolling lane closures on sections of Cornwallis Street, Cunard Street and some adjacent side streets. The work will take place from 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM. There will be stop and go traffic in the work zones. The traffic lights at the intersection of Cornwallis Street and Gottingen Street will be shut down from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The traffic lights at the intersection of Cornwallis Street and Brunswick Street will be shut down from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Sidewalks will remain open. See the attached work zone map for details.
Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow around the work zones. On-site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and expect delays. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
There will be no loss of water, wastewater or stormwater service.
