Downtown Halifax – Wastewater and Stormwater System Maintenance

Beginning at 11:30 PM tonight, Thursday, August 20 until 7:30AM on Friday, August 21, Halifax Water crews will complete wastewater and stormwater system maintenance on several streets in Downtown Halifax. This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area.

There will be traffic control measures in place for a Halifax Water crew to conduct wastewater system maintenance along the following streets:

  • Upper Water Street between Duke Street and Sackville Street
  • Lower Water Street between Sackville Street and Morris Street

There will be traffic control measures in place for a second Halifax Water crew to conduct stormwater system maintenance along the following streets:

  • Grafton Street between Carmichael Street and Prince Street
  • Grafton Street between Sackville Street and Spring Garden Road
  • Brunswick Street between Prince Street and Doyle Street
  • Argyle Street between Prince Street and Blowers Street

Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
