Traffic Advisory – Dutch Village Road, Halifax

The following temporary traffic changes will be in place during this work
Published: 3:54 PM | January 24, 2023

From 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on January 30 to February 3 (weather dependent), Clean Water Works Canada, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology in the Dutch Village Road area.

Traffic Impacts:

  • On January 30 (weather dependent), there will be a lane reduction on Dutch Village Road between Central Avenue and Joseph Howe Drive. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
  • On January 31 (weather dependent), there will be a lane reduction on Dutch Village Road between Frederick Avenue to Sunnybrae Avenue. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
  • On February 1 (weather dependent), there will be stop-and-go traffic on Dutch Village Road between Rufus Avenue and Rosedale Avenue.
  • On February 2 (weather dependent), there will be stop-and-go traffic at the intersection of Deal Street and Dutch Village Road.
  • On February 3 (weather dependent), there will be stop-and-go traffic on Dutch Village Road between Titus Street and Andrew Street.

This work will not impact water service in the area.

CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of aging underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
